So I am done with this blog since it served it's purpose which was to post and update schoolwork from my time at NBCC Miramichi but now I have graduated and done with this course so I moved to another place which will serve to update my art at least weekly and it will also serve as an artistic journal of some sort!

Life Drawing Term 5 Assign no1

So we had to do 15 min poses and draw over them with tracing paper, revealing musceles and anatomy underneat. Our teacher juiced up this assignement by making it a bit more creative! Trace them as Zombies!

Life drawing Drapery! All my best one were looking at the same direction and were all 3/4 shots which is kind of...Dull.
... Perhaps I should switch seat arrangement for an assignment from time to time. Seems have more success when I do that.

Drawing Jam Stuff!

Star Trek Chris Sander style a style that is surprisingly very hard to pull off. This is a drawing I did before I studied the style thanks to the special edition DVD. (Has a feature on how to draw Chris Sanders style). I will have another drawing jam in that style but AFTER I studied the style. I can't wait to see the difference! =)

AFTER! Quite a difference eh! Pretty satisfied overall. Gotta fix the saggy boobs, broken right arm. (The Chris Sander wave is used incorrectly there.) And she looks a little bit to vertically skewed somehow. I think I could just use some tweaking in flash and fatten her up.

Pretty Happy with this one! I forgot the shirt and I want to add some highlight + shadows to make it even more Scott Pilgrimmy. I studied the style a little, and grown very fond of i;t its very simple but the artist needs to know A LOT about human anatomy to pull this style successfully. I also noticed thhat it has a very simple outline but the lines used inside the gills (hair, clothing, ect) contain much more complex thin lines. It's like simple on the inside, complex on the outside. Hope I can fix the image quality too later on.
Invader Zim Style! Pretty satisfied with this one! I just need to add the missing apron...

I like this one since I see some style variation from my usual/natural "Style". Away from the typical thin flowy like line style I seem to do. There is more bulk in these!

Life Drawing - Hand Assignement

I remember drawing these and once I was finished I'd say: Bah! This looks like crap!
A day or so after, I take another look at them and I say: Hey! These look pretty good!
Funny that when you draw and think its good you take another look and its not as good as you thought it was.
Luckily, the reverse also seems to happen.
From now I will draw and think it looks bad whn I do it so it looks better when I take another look at it.
Anywho; I am pretty satisfied on how these one turned out.

Pretty Happy how that one turned. Yes I know the perspective on these layouts are awfull and inconsistent but I find story telling is more important in an animatic so hope you guys enjoy.

Warp Pan.

So for our last layout project we did a warp pan and then for this year's flash class we had to colour them using flash.

Original one from last year.

Coloured version in Flash. It didn't turned out the way I EXACTLY wanted to but to get the results I envisioned; I think it required knowledge of flash I do not posess... Yet! I also had to leave a few details from the original due to time constraint. Hope I have time to revise it in the future!

Whoop! Whoop! Time for some characters!!!!
Could use some more appeal (roundeness) but pretty happy with the results!
Its for a 30 sec - 1 min short we're doing for this year. I had a new awesome idea but it only occurred to me after I was done my script/character designs. =(

EDIT: Here is my knight.
Sir Florence Haselfot. I had a little less time to work on this one. But the results are pretty neat overall. A bit of inconsistencies here and there... (Which will be fixed if this goes on my portfolio.)...I figure by then I will have much better characters done overall anyways.

The Artic Wolf slept all day during our field trip but they were finally awake for the last 15 minutes, so I took the oppurtunity to draw one pacing around back forth. This one remains unfinished due to time constraint but I am still pleased with the overall gesture.

We went on a field trip to the Zoo to draw animals from life, I spent about half an hour drawing this eagle, exploring the shapes in his head and beak. Hope I am able to go some other time so I can give it another shot!

A small compilation of some of my some of my favourite figure drawing I did in the last two terms. I only picked four so far out of like hundreds. I hope I can find more gesture drawings.
Anyway two of the following are 15 min poses and the other two are 2 min poses I believe.
the last one is an arm study. Its far from perfect now that I look back at it. but I remember being very proud of the results back then so here you go!

Layout - Graveyard

An older layout: The Graveyard. Actually I think it was the first layout we had to do for our class this term.
This is the revised version. I will post the original version later for comparison.
I left a tad bit of "white spots" on the painted version which is strange since I swear I applied washes and layers over it like fifty times. Oh well! Still new with Gouache... Enjoy!

Calendar Girls

We are doing a a calendar for funds to the animation film festival; our theme is Chicks, Tanks + Gun/Weapon or something of that sort.
Just a warning. It wounded up to be a bit slightly ummm...Phallic? But hey sex sells right?
Anywho rocket didn't scan all in because the scanner didn't want to fit it into it for some reason.
Thats okay it's just the ruff. I am suppose to include a chick (as in baby chicken) but forgot; I will add it in the clean up version.

Layout Design

Layout I did for Layout Design are theme was "Jungles" from around the world. I chose the African Rainforest. Specifically in the Congo area. It turned out to feel more like a "Land lost in Time" kind of deal but hey those jungle are the least explored by mankind so it fits right?
I am pretty happy how it turned out.

Drawing Jam Stuff

Drawing I did for the Drawing Jam, Ref was jousting horses and pictures from the film: The Last Unicorn. The anaotmy is not perfect (I am not sure if a horse could even stand like that) but regardless I am pretty happy of how it turned out.
